Who am I?
As Elizabeth Oakey, I write the Mrs Mortimer’s Mysteries is a series of whodunnits set in the late 1920s, and as E E Oakey, I write the ‘Goats in Space Saga, although, I am in fact Emma.
I am a huge fan of the Golden Age of crime fiction, and if I were offered the chance to travel back in time, I’d be a fly on the wall at the Detection Club and listen to the genius of Agatha Christie, Dorothy L Sayers, Ngaio Marsh and Margery Allingham.
Much like my heroine, Georgiana Mortimer, I am British and, true to type, I drink tea, tea and more tea. Pots and pots of the stuff! I do not however, own a small dog called Crumpet – more’s the pity. So sweet.
Contact and follow me on Instagram and Facebook.
I am “eeoakeyauthor”.
I currently live in Melbourne, Australia, but I have also lived in Hong Kong, Taipei, Auckland, Perth (the Australian one), Bristol and Croydon, and please don’t ask me which of those I liked best! All so different and so interesting (with the possible exception of Croydon).
I am also E E Oakey, the author of the Goats in Space Saga, a series of funny, fantastic books for middle grade readers, set in a possible future. And, contrary to the illustration on the first book’s back cover, I am not a snail…
All the chapter illustrations for the 4 children’s books were done by me and my two sons. (They’re much better at monsters, animals and armour, than I am. )
